About Dolly

Dolly is a non-profit organization centered on pet knowledge, care, and training.

Dolly says many pet issues could be avoided by education in responsible pet ownership.

Good choices make good pets, and happy owners. Many animals are surrendered every year, because they did not fit the owners lifestyle. Pet owners often become frustrated when they encounter behaviors that they are unable to correct.

An improper correction can actually worsen the problem, or have an unpleasant side effect. It is important to be well informed and prepared before you get the pet.

Success Stories

A few weeks ago the City of Barnesville agreed to let someone from Dolly Goodpuppy Society, Inc. come and photograph and post the animals in the Shelter. Within a few hours of posting a rescue group agreed to take these two dogs and adopt them into good homes.

After the holding period had elapsed these two lucky girls were picked up, vetted, and adopted. Tory and Sheridan now have good homes, thanks to the internet and some very kind hearted folks at a retriever rescue group.

Second Chance For Buddy

A few weeks ago a handsome Basset mix dog was surrendered to Barnesville Animal Control. He was posted on our flyers and website, and for a while it looked like he would not be one of the lucky ones to get adopted.

Dolly volunteers knew that given a chance this dog would find a home, and make someone a great companion. So we worked hard to get his picture passed around.

The effort paid off and this guy hit the jackpot. He got a home and a new name, Buddy. We recently received these pictures with an update from his new mom, Denise.

She says that Buddy is doing great. He loves his new home, and all his great toys. Buddy and the cats are still getting to know one another, and they are trying to figure out how to co-exist peacefully. A pet gate ensures that no one gets into trouble.

A routine has been established, and Buddy does well walking on the leash. When distracted, he doesn't come when called, but they are working on this. Being easily distracted is pretty typical for any hound type dog. It is in the genes, and requires a little work.

Congratulations to Buddy and Denise on their progress, and thanks so much for the success story.
